Mr. Schechter joined Minneapolis Portfolio Management Group, LLC in 2005 as Managing Director, providing technical resources and business development services to the firm. Prior to joining MPMG, he was a founding shareholder of Schechter, Dokken, Kanter, Andrews & Selcer, Ltd., a certified public accounting firm based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and served as managing shareholder of the firm. Earlier in his career, Mr. Schechter was a partner at Laventhal & Horwath, the seventh largest accounting firm in the U.S., and served as a managing partner of the Minneapolis office.

In addition to his 46 years of accounting services experience, Mr. Schechter has authored and edited numerous publications, including auditing guides, tax handbooks, and technical practice aids published by the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of CPAs, Practitioners Publishing Co. and QuickFinder, Inc., subsidiaries of Thompson Publications. Additionally, he has taught accounting courses at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and served as an executive mentor for the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management MBA program. Mr. Schechter is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.
